We interested parties all need to read over Peter's information (if not already) and strat thinking of all the possible factors in building the analog bases.

Here's a first question, based on discussions this evening at the May chapter meeting, from KJSII's kickoff proposal he offered.

How small of an analog should we start?

I'm thinking very small, minimal power and control required, just to set up the simulation interfaces and start an experimental/developmental scaling process. Just show that we can build a stable, and physical, simulation. It would eventually produce a protocol for scaling up to progressively bigger experiments.

Now, landing thrusters.. landing thrusters, hmm. Now if I were a landing thruster, which one of these would I be?

I do agree. An original accurate scale itself would not be as important as establishing the required elements of the system itself. Once the power and control elements are established, then scaling up to a series of set ratios could begin.

I have discovered today that there is a "Human Integration Design Handbook (HIDH) that is under development to provide guidance and data to aid vehicle and habitat designers in human-system integrations. Exactly what details are contained in this handbook, and if it has been completed yet, I am not sure. However, information regarding any set of standards that have been or are in the process of being established for habitable modules are certainly of high value.

This is especially so for later scaled stages when attempting to recreate actual environments as closely as possible to what will actually be used.

If anyone has ideas on any suggestions for specific early phase elements that should be included in a functional test of concept beyond power production and distribution, monitoring and storage of power, please feel free to drop a word or two right here in the forum. All suggestions are appreciated !

storage of power, i would reccomend batteries. and solar panels

still seems like such a detached academic discussion. would like more real hands on moon planning ops ideas

a scale model, functioning?
